Augathella and Blackall
Sunday the 23rd of May we left Morven for Blackall. On the way we stopped at Augathella for a cuppa. There is a display there that talks about the Australian movie character, ‘Smiley’. The character is based on a boy who grew up in the area. Chips Rafferty used to be a shearer in the area as well, before becoming an actor.
The silo is painted beautifully.
We stopped at Tambo for lunch and then pushed on to Blackall and pulled into a camp spot. They charge $10, no power, but water taps are easily accessible all over the grounds. The water though was a bit smelly in my opinion so I didn’t use it. Therefore, a bit overpriced in my opinion, however, we weren’t going further that day. There are good amenities five minutes walk away.
Next morning I took a walk up to the bakery and then to the Ram Outdoor Museum. The old railway station had been moved to that spot. The caretaker who runs it is a real bushie. Love listening to him talk.
